Betweens have the same wire diameter as long sewing needles of the same size. However, they are 7 cm shorter. They are particularly valued for precise and professional hand-sewing work. Their shorter length allows for quicker penetration and makes them particularly suitable for running stitches, quilting with multiple layers of fabric and interfacing, fine hand-seams on clothing (e.g. hems) and precise repair work such as mending tears or reworking unpicked seams.
