They are easily inserted into the cushion on the corresponding area through the loose cover and provide reliable support. The curved notches below the pin head allow the pin to properly snap onto the fabric. They can be easily pulled out with pliers to clean and wash the cover and then re-used afterwards. The loose cover pins are made of rust-free brass and are sold in packages of 6 or 200.
