Crochet technique notes
- The Voodoo doll and its individual elements are crocheted in continuous spiral rounds using the amigurumi technique.
- The head and body are worked in one piece. The arms, legs and heart are then sewn onto the body as described in the pattern.
- The details on the doll are embroidered using the same yarn used for crocheting. Split the 4-ply yarn so that you work with a 2-ply embroidery thread.
- The doll can be used as a pincushion in a sitting or lying position. For a sitting position, sew on the legs so that they can dangle flexibly.
- The colour references in this pattern use beige as the main colour and grey brown as the contrast colour. For an alternative colour version, you can also swap the colours. Both versions are shown in the images.

Step 5: Finish the Voodoo pincushion
Sew the arms to the left and right of the head, centred in the area between the head and body. Weave in the yarn ends and hide them inside the body. Sew the legs slightly towards the front of the belly in the area of round 35, leaving a distance of about 5 stitches between them. Make sure the legs can dangle flexibly so that the doll can sit. Weave in the yarn ends and hide them inside the body.
Place the heart on the belly and secure it with pins so it does not slip while sewing. Sew it in place, weave in the yarn end and hide it inside the body.
Split a strand of grey brown yarn so that the 4-ply yarn becomes a 2-ply embroidery thread. Using this thread and the yarn needle, embroider details such as seams on the chest, head, arms and legs.
Sew a black 15 mm trouser button onto the face. The upper edge of the button should sit at round 14 of the head, and the lower edge at round 18. You can also sew on two button eyes if you prefer.
Use a 2-ply grey brown thread to embroider additional facial details such as a second eye or eyebrows.
Your crocheted Voodoo pincushion in Halloween style is finished.
