How does the Prym Vario pliers work?

With the Prym Vario pliers you can attach eyelets, snaps, rivets and color snaps. To ensure that you have a positive experience with the Vario pliers, we take a closer look at the tool in the following tutorials and provide you with instructions on how to use it correctly.


Buki shows you important tips on the proper use of our Vario pliers. It is a tool for attaching snaps, eyelets, rivets and jeans buttons. To attach the individual materials you need different inserts, which you can remove by using the plastic tool.

Each Vario pliers comes with two inlays which can deteriorate in the course of use due to pressure and need to be replaced. The inlays can also be purchased separately.

Which pliers do I use for jersey snaps?

You can attach jersey snaps with the Prym Vario pliers. For this you need a special attachment for your pliers. The Prym Vario pliers attachments for jersey are generally included in your respective jersey snap set.


How do I attach jersey snaps?

For stretchy fabrics, it is advisable to iron a piece of fleece line or Wonder-Dots onto the buttonholes, otherwise they can unravel. Then, take the feather piece and a jagged top piece. Next, insert the serrated piece into your pliers with the groove facing up, and then insert the counterpart. Make sure that the outer part is on the right side of the fabric and the feather part is on the inside. Repeat the same on the other side, making sure that the ball part is facing down in the pliers.

How do I apply Color Snaps?

To attach color snaps you need a special attachment. The Prym Love pliers come with the 12.4 mm and 9 mm standard attachments, for the purple pliers you have to buy both of them additionally. For stretch fabrics, the same applies as for jersey snaps, be sure to iron Wonder-Dots or Vlieseline into the button area beforehand.

To attach the buttons, push the button part with pin through the fabric, then place it in the white receptacle and the counterpart in the other side. Make sure the snap is straight and then press down forcefully until the pin (spike) is pressed flat. Then repeat the steps with the opposite side.

How do I remove color snaps?

The best way to remove color snaps is with our removal set. To do this, place the rubber part and the matching tool part in the pliers and press down. Then you can simply remove the old snaps.


How to attach anorak snaps with pliers?

To attach anorak snaps, you must first punch the fabric with the included punching tools. Then place the inserts included in the package for the top of the button in the pliers, push the pin through the hole in the fabric and place the counterpart. Be sure to apply the pliers straight and squeeze them forcefully. Then swap the inserts. Press the rivet into the attachment with rubber part, the ball part down into the other insert and press once firmly.

How does the Prym eyelet pliers work?

Basically, the Vario pliers are also pliers for attaching eyelets. In order to attach eyelets, you must first punch holes in your fabric with the appropriate punching tool. Then insert the eyelet inserts included in the package, place the eyelet with elevation (eyelet neck) in the insert, press the elevation through the hole in the fabric, place the washer with the correct opening side on top and press both firmly together so that the elevation is turned up (flanged).
