Sew a Port Pillow

Sew a Port Pillow – Gentle Support, Wherever You Go
Comfort that moves with you
A port pillow helps protect sensitive areas – like a chemo port – from pressure and friction caused by a seat belt. This small cushion attaches directly to the belt with easy-to-use snaps. Whether for yourself, a loved one, or as a donation: it’s a quick project that can truly make a difference.
Materials required
- Cotton fabric (outer + lining)
- Ruler (e.g. Prym ironing ruler)
- Fabric scissors
- Thread snips
- Prym heat-erasable fabric marker
- Matching sewing thread
- Prym pins
- Hand sewing needle
- Domestic sewing machine
- Power Dots “strong & safe”& safe“
- VARIO Creative Tool / VARIO pliers
- Tool set for Color Snaps (9 & 12.4 mm)
- Color Snaps (pink heart shape)
- Polyester stuffing
- Steam iron Mini

Cutting
- Cut the pillow body 2×
- Cut flaps: 4× (small) or 8× (large)
- Transfer all markings: turning opening, snaps & flap positions
Preparation
- Iron 1 Power Dot onto 2 flap pieces
- Pair each with a plain flap, place right sides together
- Sew three sides with 1 cm seam allowance, leave one short side open
- Trim corners, turn right side out, press, and topstitch close to the edge
Attach the snaps
- Use the VARIO Creative Tool / VARIO pliers to punch a hole
- Switch to the Color Snaps tool set and attach matching snap halves so they face each other properly when turned
Sew the pillow
- Pin flaps in place at marked positions, open side to the edge
- Lay pillow body pieces right sides together, pin all around
- Sew with 1 cm seam allowance, leaving the turning opening open
Finishing
- Trim corners
- Turn pillow, shape neatly, and press
- Stuff lightly with polyester fiberfill – don’t overfill!
- Close the opening with ladder stitch by hand or topstitch close to the edge by machine
